This is quite a story…but I want you to know that I am going to change the names in this story to protect the guilty.
Two team leaders Chris and CeCe (their real names) had asked me to attend a fitness expo in Las Vegas, Nevada. I decided to go and support my team leaders. We arrived in Las Vegas and was met by Shaq, and his girlfriend “Sarah”. We were setting up for a week long expo marketing our company’s flagship energy drink. Chris and CeCe were very excited about the possibilities of finding some very key people that were serious about marketing energy and weight loss. We had hundreds visit the booth. Shaq worked one side of the booth and I worked the other giving out samples of our product. Chris and CeCe were working the booth. As Shaq and I would speak with good prospects that were interested in either the product or the business opportunity we would send them into the booth area where Chris, CeCe and Sarah could speak with them about it.
CeCe had the perfect view of the whole area and could see what we each were doing. Remember Chris and CeCe were both in law enforcement. CeCe began to watch Shaq put business cards in his pocket as he was speaking with prospects. There was one in particular that we both spoke with that day. His name Daniel (his real name) Daniel was a guy that lived in Monterrey Mexico whose wife owned her own gym there. I gave his card immediately to Chris and told him the whole story about Daniel! Awesome lead! Daniel has since joined us in Freelife, on a side note. Now Shaq on the other hand pocketed the business card of Daniel. Never spoke to Chris and CeCe about it until after the expo was over and he had been called out on pocketing business cards.
Later in the week, after I had left to come back to Tahoe, there was another incident in the booth area. Shaq was out front in his normal position speaking with prospects and he says to the prospect “See that gal over there? She is making $27,000 a month in this business” Now I want you to understand that NO ONE in that business was making $27,000 a month. CeCe took total offense to the comment and when she called Shaq out on it he said he was just kidding around. CeCe explained to him that her credibility and integrity meant more to her than that!
Now I had been with the company about 3 years at this point. Shaq had just joined us in January. He miraculously ended up in my upline. (This is the reason I say stay away from start up company’s) I got filled in on all of this information when Chris and CeCe arrived back in Tahoe. I was irate. I called my enroller Allan (not his real name) and he explained to me that this was over his head but that I should speak directly with the company President. We will call him Dr D (not his real name either).
So I call him up and I get the whole “Now Willy, that’s why I don’t believe in expos because there is always confusion on who gets what.” (Keep in mind that this event was to assist leaders in my business in growing their business) He goes on to say “Now Willy, he is the Shaq of the Network Marketing industry and you just have not produced like he has here.” (Blatant LIE) I was told by Dr D after 3 years as a leader in his company that someone who had been with the company 6 months was worth more! This incident was the beginning of the end for my career with the company. So if your upline or your company ownership says that “Shaq” has joined your business, Run as fast as you can!
You will be happy to learn that Karma takes care of it all. That company folded 2 years after I left. Shaq left not long after we did and joined another company. We see him from time to time on two bit beer commercials. Daniel joined us in the Freelife business. And well Chris and CeCe are part of my leadership team at Freelife!
Until next time
